Emily - 'Friends' by Marshmello and Anne-Marie

Hello friends, it’s Emily and today I have a new Billboard music song to review for you!
Whilst searching for a song to review on the Billboard charts, I immediately fell in love with ‘Friends’ by Marshmello and Anne-Marie. As usual, the beats of the song and rhythm by producer Marshmello and strong vocals of Anne-Marie has captivated the world with their collaboration peaking at number 21 last week on Billboard’s charts.



The first verse of the song immediately establishes the topic of the song, “You say you love me, I say you crazy, we're nothing more than friends, you're not my lover, more like a brother”.  It’s a friend-zone anthem we dance while stuck in peak hour traffic.

The electronic beats and sub-pop genre of this music is enjoyable and helps convey the lyrics clearly. The sassy lyrics and fierce beats of this song makes this song the great friend-zoning anthem it is. At some point in our lives we all must’ve had that friend we rejected who never seemed to quite understand the signals we give. This leads to frustration as  the almost furious beats and harsh lyrics, “Haven’t I made it obvious, haven’t I made it clear?” which I think some of us can relate to…

This week I will be reviewing "better now" by hip-hop artist Post Malone, he has also recently set a new record for most songs from an album being in the hot 100 charts beating previous artist J.Cole. "Better Now" has placed 7th this week for the second time in a row and from listening to the track you can tell how it has maintained its position. This single comes off Post Malone's Second studio album, "beerbongs & bentleys", which explores his feelings and how he's coping a couple months after a breakup when his partner has moved on with another man. This song can be really relatable for anyone who has been through a breakup and so the relatability may have been a factor as to why this song has remained fo high on the charts for two weeks in a row. Emily - 'In My Blood' by Shawn Mendes Review

Hello friends, how have you all been? Lately I have been listening to Shawn Mendes' new single, "In My Blood".  The song currently sits on number 36 for the seventh week in a row in the Billboard Hot 100. The reason why I love this song so much is the composition of the music and message within the lyrics. The song is raw with emotions, which explores the 'vulnerable' side of the singer. The lyrics have profound symbolism and meaning, with the opening lyrics establishing his anxiety " help me, it’s like the walls are caving in, s ometimes I feel like giving up" . This is a reoccurring theme throughout the song with, " I'm overwhelmed and insecure" reinforcing the singer's pain and desperation to the point where "no medicine is strong enough".  However the song moves onto a more empowering motion in the chorus with the music becoming more upbeat as the singer almost yells "It isn't in my blood" a...
