Emily - 'In My Blood' by Shawn Mendes Review

Image
Hello friends, how have you all been? Lately I have been listening to Shawn Mendes' new single, "In My Blood".  The song currently sits on number 36 for the seventh week in a row in the Billboard Hot 100. The reason why I love this song so much is the composition of the music and message within the lyrics. The song is raw with emotions, which explores the 'vulnerable' side of the singer. The lyrics have profound symbolism and meaning, with the opening lyrics establishing his anxiety " help me, it’s like the walls are caving in, s ometimes I feel like giving up" . This is a reoccurring theme throughout the song with, " I'm overwhelmed and insecure" reinforcing the singer's pain and desperation to the point where "no medicine is strong enough".  However the song moves onto a more empowering motion in the chorus with the music becoming more upbeat as the singer almost yells "It isn't in my blood" a...

Yasuph - "Better now" by Post Malone

Image
Hey guys!! It's Yasuph again and I am back this Sunday to review another song from the billboard hot 100. This week I will be reviewing "better now" by hip-hop artist Post Malone, he has also recently set a new record for most songs from an album being in the hot 100 charts beating previous artist J.Cole. "Better Now" has placed 7th this week for the second time in a row and from listening to the track you can tell how it has maintained its position. This single comes off Post Malone's Second studio album, "beerbongs & bentleys", which explores his feelings and how he's coping a couple months after a breakup when his partner has moved on with another man. This song can be really relatable for anyone who has been through a breakup and so the relatability may have been a factor as to why this song has remained fo high on the charts for two weeks in a row. The song has a modern hip-hop vibe as the production has really fast drum...

Sanjeev - Psycho by Post Malone Ft. Ty Dolla $ign

Image
Hey Guys, it's Sanjeev back again with your Thursday Reviews, hope you had a great week. This week I will be reviewing ‘Psycho’ by Post Malone featuring Ty. Dolla $ign which is currently number 2 on the Billboard Top 100. This song is featured in Post Malone’s latest album ‘Beerbongs and Bentleys’ and is a very good listen to. The lyrics are pretty basic and mundane, but the simple, cool beat and Malone’s vocals makes the song a very chill and easy song to listen to. The song transitions into Ty. Dollas part seamlessly although his part wasn’t really needed it and generic as it is similar to most mumble rap you hear nowadays it didn’t hurt the song and he maintained the flow that Malone established. The music video was a bit different, not sure how it relates to the lyrics with the post-apocalyptic feel to it but was cool looking. Overall the song is pretty good and chill to listen to, but the lyrics could have been a bit better therefore I will give this an 8/10. Album Cov...

Justin - 'Whatever it takes' Imagine Dragons

Image
Hey guys its Justin again bringing you another song review, this week I give you the song 'Whatever it Takes' by Imagine Dragons, this is from their most recent album Evolve which is a album sticking to their indie/alternative band routes but incorporating a lot more techno dance and electro elements into their songs. The song itself is a fairly fast paced song during the verses with a medium dance beats during the chorus with simplistic yet powerful lyrics throughout the entire song. It consists of your basic band instruments of guitar, drums, vocals, keyboard and also many synth sounds as well. Overall it is a fairly modern and good song and I would give it a 7/10.  Have a good day guys and as we near the end of our blog I hope you guys enjoy the rest of the weeks review - Justin.

Emily - 'Friends' by Marshmello and Anne-Marie

Image
Hello friends, it’s Emily and today I have a new Billboard music song to review for you! Whilst searching for a song to review on the Billboard charts, I immediately fell in love with ‘Friends’ by Marshmello and Anne-Marie. As usual, the beats of the song and rhythm by producer Marshmello and strong vocals of Anne-Marie has captivated the world with their collaboration peaking at number 21 last week on Billboard’s charts. The first verse of the song immediately establishes the topic of the song, “You say you love me, I say you crazy, we're nothing more than friends, you're not my lover, more like a brother”.    It’s a friend-zone anthem we dance while stuck in peak hour traffic. The electronic beats and sub-pop genre of this music is enjoyable and helps convey the lyrics clearly. The sassy lyrics and fierce beats of this song makes this song the great friend-zoning anthem it is. At some point in our lives we all must’ve had that friend we rejected who never se...
